Back in Motion Rehab Inc.
Client and Visitor Code of Conduct

Last updated: September 2022.

Purpose

Back in Motion Rehab Inc. (“Back in Motion”) and Legacies Health Centre (“Legacies”) are committed to providing a welcoming and professional environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, including all Clients, Visitors, workers, and any members of the public who enter our facilities. This Client and Visitor Code of Conduct is intended to reinforce the Harassment and Anti-Bullying Policy, which recognizes that our workers have the right to work in an atmosphere which promotes equal opportunities and prohibits discriminatory practices, including harassment and bullying in any form.

This Code of Conduct Policy applies to all Clients of Back in Motion and Legacies, that is, those who receive services directly or through a third party payer (collectively, “Clients”) and those who attend the facilities for a variety of purposes, such as guests, vendors, suppliers, interpreters, or family members (collectively, “Visitors”), and compliance with this Policy is required as a condition of treatment and attending the premises.

Expectations of our Clients and Visitors

At Back in Motion & Legacies, harassment, whether sexual, verbal, physical or environmental is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

All Clients and Visitors are expected to treat our workers with respect, and must not engage in any conduct which amounts to bullying or harassment of our staff. In particular, Clients and Visitors must not engage in discrimination or harassment of workers on the basis of any of the protected grounds under the B.C. Human Rights Code.

Bullying and harassment can take many forms, but can generally be described as unwanted or unsolicited physical contact, statements, demands, jokes or gestures which negatively affect the working environment. Examples of such unacceptable conduct include, but are not limited by, the following:

  • Unwanted physical contact;
  • Physical abuse or violence;
  • Verbal abuse, threats, or derogatory remarks;
  • Jokes, innuendo or taunts;
  • Racist, sexist, or otherwise offensive remarks;
  • Unwelcome or suggestive invitations or requests;
  • Leering or other objectionable gestures;
  • Sharing or displaying suggestive or pornographic images.

Results of Policy violation

Back in Motion and Legacies will enforce this Policy as one of the measures taken to ensure the safety of our staff members, Clients and Visitors, and we treat violations very seriously.

If a Client or Visitor is found to have violated expectations of conduct as set out, Back in Motion & Legacies reserve the right to take immediate measures to enforce this Policy. At our discretion, we may:

  • provide the Client or Visitor with a warning and confirmation of expectations of conduct as a condition of treatment or attendance on the premises; or
  • immediately cease treatment, or ban the Client or Visitor from receiving treatment and attending our premises in the future.
