About Activity Related Soft Tissue Disorder Program (ASTD)

The Activity Related Soft Tissue Disorder Program (ASTD) is an interdisciplinary treatment program offered by Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Kinesiologists, Registered Clinical Counsellors, and Physicians. Working with the Injured Worker, their Physician, their employer and WorkSafeBC, the rehabilitation team develops a comprehensive treatment plan.

Clients are assessed and a customized treatment plan is designed to assist in improving strength, range of motion and conditioning with a focus on improving overall ability to function at home and at work. Clients can attend education sessions on topics such as healing and recovery, ergonomics and identification of risk factors, exercise and pain management. A job site visit assists the team in learning more about the workplace and work demands. Clients are involved every step of the way, including in the development of a graduated return to work plan. Support is provided by a team member during the graduated return to work plan, which typically lasts 4-6 weeks.

Services are offered in Abbotsford, Coquitlam, South Surrey and Vancouver.
