Medical Examination for Impairment Assessment (MEIA) is provided by a physician. Clients are referred for MEIA for assessment of the residual measurable impairment from the injuries that have been accepted on their info claim.
Measurable impairment refers to the absolute level of physical impairment, referred to at WorkSafeBC by the term Permanent Functional Impairment. The function of the MEIA is to measure, record, and assess any residual impairment from the injury. The evaluation is not used for diagnosis or for recommending treatment.
